Zen Relaxation
A mindful and intuitive approach; Zen relaxation massage will include focused, nurturing and intentional touch designed to calm the body and mind.
This gentle treatment can include a variety of Swedish techniques promoting a general sense of welbeing, and comfort.
The pace is slow, and the pressure light.
Lomi Lomi
Lomi Lomi, also known as “Loving Hands” is a traditional Hawaiian massage.
Hands, forearms, elbows, knuckles, and sometimes wooden sticks are used. Continuous long flowing strokes are applied helping to release blockages and increase energy and circulation.
Flow, and rhythm are vital to Lomi Lomi as it is seen as somewhat of a dance. This style is known to facilitate deep emotional and spiritual healing.
The strokes are designed to mimic ocean waves and work with the body’s natural rhythms. Traditionally draping covers only sensitive areas while the rest of the body is accessible for treatment – allowing for long flowing strokes across the entire body. This style of massage uses quite a bit of oil.
Pressure can range from light to moderate. Pace is moderate to fast.
Swedish
Swedish is the most well known and common type of massage in this part of the world. It involves long, gliding strokes, kneading, petrissage, tapping/tapotement, circular motions, and other rhythmic techniques to promote relaxation, relieve muscle tension and improve circulation.
The pressure ranges from light to medium and can be adjusted as needed. Pace ranges from slow, moderate, and fast – can be adjusted.
Thai
Description and FYI’s;
Traditionally clothes are kept on for Thai massage (comfortable loose fitting shorts and t-shirt are best). Broad and specific pressure is applied using the palms, forearms, and elbow. Some techniques might include the client being placed in yoga-like postures and stretches while the practitioner applies compression techniques by palm, thumb, elbow or foot with slow and mindful movement. Benefits can include: increased flexibility and range of motion, decreased stiffness and muscle tension. Oil is not used for this style of massage.
I will not be walking and/or standing on clients as there is no stability beam installed at this location.
Deep Tissue
Description and FYI’s;
Deep tissue massage uses slow strokes and firm pressure to target deep layers of muscles and connective tissues. Targeted precise techniques can be used on especially tight areas and trigger points. Trigger point therapy can be helpful in relieving “knots” and stiffness. Pressure is applied using thumbs, palms, forearm, elbow, and can also include massage tools. Myofascial techniques may be used when needed to help release tension in the fascia (myofascial work is without the use of oil)
The goal of a deep tissue massage is to relieve tension, “knots”, pain, improve circulation.
Customized Combination
Description and FYI’s;
Lomi Lomi and Thai massage will not be offered as a possible combination due to draping and technique differences.
